Day-8

Monday morning starts with the lecture of Spanish Group. The following topics were covered during the lecture. At our lecture, we tried to develop a new vision for citizenship education and European values, related to non-formal educational agents and the third sector of social action.

We begin with a review of basic concepts related to education, European initiatives in this regard and the different educational models that can be found; continue to introduce non-formal education, its characteristics and its implications in the development of the community and people, and ended by relating these concepts with the Third Sector and Social Action NGOs and critical social movements involved in working with groups at risk of exclusion, disability and community development.

Data concerning the main lines of research in Europe in this respect, as well as the latest figures on volunteering, employability and generate economic wealth were presented.

In our conference, a small video about different ways of understanding education was seen as professionals, creating a rich debate in which the views of other countries were provided.

Reference was also made to what European values are and how they can be developed in different contexts, with a cultural, ethnic or religious diversity and how we can act depressed or groups at risk contexts.

We conclude with some questions about what solutions we can provide for this, and what actions should be prioritized to create a genuine European citizenship.

In our workshop we conducted a group dynamics used in social psychology and the psychology of groups. The main purpose of this is to realize of the processes of inclusion – exclusion which occur daily basis in the different groups that we belong and how it affects the development of shared values.

To do this, we divide the large group into intermediate groups of 10-12 people and distributed around the room, by naming a representative or leader.

After the group is formed, it must exclude one of the participants. This person could not communicate with anyone and should be completely isolated without participating in anything. Meanwhile, the group continued with normal activities, and planned rest. For 10 minutes they had to find reasons why they had excluded that person.

The excluded person, at the same time should think about the reasons that could be used to exclude it.

Over time, each group explained their reasons and feelings generated by carrying out the action; and subsequently, the excluded person.

We conclude by reflecting on the everyday processes that tend to exclude individuals or groups based on our beliefs, prejudices, values or other reasons.
